Exposure...
Apparently, you have to tell it like it really is,
in the hope they will help.
‘Tell them the worst of the days’, they say,
in the hope they will offer.
So, you will say what you try not to admit, even to yourself.
You say all the locked away things, the ones you don’t like to even let yourself hear.
Some of this you’ll have to say in front of your child.
Will they feel like you’re disappointed in them now?
They certainly will feel you’ve broken the trust.
You spend the night before breaking your sleep with intrusive ways you’ll handle this thing today.
You’re not even sure what they need to hear, so you know you’ll have to say it all. (At least you wrote their name down this time)
You’ll go to the places you try and keep hopeful, and now say the horrible, bits (do you mention that thing?)
all in the hope they’ll help.
But then, what if they think you just can’t cope?
I better clean the cat litter box, just in case.
